And then, finally, we found the Tree of Life. Scott just started driving in the direction he thought it was (no idea how he came to that conclusion, but hey, it worked) and there it was! The Tree of Life is literally just a tree, out in the middle of the desert, with nothing else around it. No pretty fence or informative sign like you would see in the US. The draw to the Tree of Life is that it's water source is unknown, and the tree is thought to be 4-500 years old. Here it is:

I also just turned a quarter of a century old =( Yes, 25. I am...an adult. How scary. And I still don't know who I am or what I want to be when I grow up. I was so spoiled on my birthday (more so than normal). I got so many awesome presents, including a sewing machine from my parents! Woo hoo! Scott got me an ice cream cake and told me Happy Birthday at least 100 times. Me and my cake:

This past week I finished up my first session of classes here in Bahrain. My official grades haven't been posted yet, but I am 99.9% sure I will receive an A in my image editing class, and a B in my ethics class. I actually got a 100% on my final for my image editing class! I was really surprised and happy about that. This is what my teacher said: "Great job on your final project. It turned out very well! It is creative, well designed, and nicely presented. I love your style of photography and editing! Will you photograph my wedding? : )Excellent work." Hehe little does she know I didn't even use Photoshop AND all I have is a little point and shoot camera! Next week I start my next set of classes. The first is called Intro to Web Design, and the second is called Fundamentals of Programming with Algorithms and Logic...jeesh. The end is drawing near and I am excited!
Scott is still really loving his job. This week he actually started a new schedule where he goes in at 4am and gets out around 1-130pm. Previously he was going in at 630am and getting out at 6-630pm. We're both happy that he is going to be able to spend more time at home.
My dad and the dogs will be here in less than 6 weeks! We are over the moon excited.
Also coming up next weekend (not this weekend, the one after that) is the Navy Ball. Scott and I have never been to one, and I thought we should take advantage of this opportunity. I'm excited, if for nothing else than to dress up. I got some pretty fabulous shoes if I do say so myself and I get to go have someone play with my hair so all in all it should be a good time.
The weather has actually started cooling down a bit too. In the next week the highs drop below 100 degrees! I have my spiced pumpkin candle burning, and have begun drinking chai lattes. I miss the leaves in Virginia. Fall there was SO beautiful.
Time here is flying, and I am thankful for that. We are so blessed here, but I am still missing home (wherever that is). My heart hurts when I think about missing Christmas with the girls (Maddi and Sydney) in a couple months. I think about how my parents' house smells, my mom's obnoxiously loud laugh and amazing hugs, my brother beating up my dad while I watch and laugh, and I cry. Adventures are awesome, but they're only awesome because they're temporary. Thanks for reading.
