Lots of New News

So it's been almost a year since I've updated the blog. Awesome. I guess all those years of my mom forcing me to stick with stuff even when I didn't want to really paid off...not. Not that I didn't want to keep up with the blog, I just forgot about it. Honestly. I had to have my best friend send me the link to our blog because I couldn't remember it haha. Anyways...what's changed? In July we got a new dog. Her name is Emma Jo and she is a one year old English Bulldog <3 We are in love. She is such a lover and a hilarious addition to the family.

We are expecting our first baby!

I know everyone loves a good pee stick picture, so I have attached one for your viewing enjoyment. As of today I am 8 weeks along (by my calculations) with baby Fee due around May 23rd. We have our first ultrasound appointment tomorrow so I should have a more accurate estimated due date after that. We are out of our minds, crazy, stupid, excited. We found out fairly early on and just couldn't wait to share the news so we immediately called our family and closest friends. It still hasn't 100% sunk in yet, and I don't think it really will until the doctor hands me the baby. So far my symptoms haven't been too bad at all. Lots of peeing, lots of cravings, and lots of sleeping. Typical human-making behaviors.

Pugs are Back in Town

I can now breathe a huge sigh of relief, Ozzie, Presley, and my dad made it safely to Bahrain on November 8th! After all the hassle that we went through getting them out here, it is SO so so very nice to have that all behind us. The puppies are here now, and they are our responsibility and I no longer have to feel guilty about pawning my responsibilities off on someone else. We are so thankful and blessed to have such amazing friends that would watch our dogs for 6 months at the drop of a hat, no questions asked. Thank you Switzers! So yes, the dogs are here, and I am determined to plan better next time by getting the heck out of here with them before the weather even begins to warm up!

The dogs did great on the plane ride. My dad was awesome and kept asking a million people to go and check on them, and they all told him how quiet they were. That all changed though the minute they saw Scott and I haha. There was crying and whining in the airport and all the way home until we could get them out of their crates. My dad was pretty wiped out from the entire trip, and I think he was under a lot of stress himself too. We're so thankful that he was willing to travel out here and take care of the dogs' flying arrangements for us. Thanks Poppa! It was so nice to get to visit with him too. He had a suit made, went go-karting, and did a whole lot of relaxing around the house.

It's so hard when you have family visit or when you visit family. I think when you move away you slowly start to deal with being away from (nearly) everyone you love and care about, and then just when you are feeling OK about your current living situation, a visit with family rips that wound right open, and you have to start back at square one again. If that makes any sense. Basically, temporary visits with family are bittersweet. You love seeing them, but in the back of your mind you know it will all be ending soon. I can't wait for the day when visiting with family is a regular occurrence.

I finished my finals for this past session yesterday. I am so glad to have it behind me. I have two more web design classes to take, which should start December 13th, and then a Math CLEP and I am done with my AA. Yay!

I can't believe Christmas is almost here. This year has gone by so crazy fast. So many great things have happened though, and we are truly blessed. Here are some pictures from my dad's visit and the puppies settling in. Thanks for reading =)

Halloween

There are no pumpkins in Bahrain. Also, no orange, red, or brown leaves. The NEX did have lots of candy though, but no cinnamon teddy bears. So...Halloween this year was different. Scott had to work. I watched my favorite Halloween movies (Beetlejuice and Hocus Pocus) did some homework (which nearly brought me to tears. Have I mentioned how much I hate programming AND my professor? Cuz I do.) laundry, and then made dinner. We were planning on seeing a scary movie that night, but when we got to the theater, the power was out =( We headed to Dairy Queen, because ice cream makes everything better, but then Scott asked me about my homework and class, and I got so upset I decided I didn't want ice cream anymore (you know it's serious when I turn down ice cream). In conclusion, I miss the United States. Here are some pictures:

Last Friday, Scott and I were out and about running errands, and trying to enjoy the weekend. We were headed to the movie theater to watch Dinner for Schmucks, when we hit a car in the parking garage =( Thankfully, the person that we hit was a very nice man who spoke perfect English. We tried calling the emergency traffic phone number (like 911, but for non-injury traffic accidents only), and when no one answered after 3 separate calls, we decided to call the emergency number. Still, no answer. It was then discovered that it was prayer time, and so no one would be answering either line for awhile. Wow! Good to know. In the future, when I want to have a life-threatening-injury, I will make sure it happens on any day but Friday. Anyways, we drove to the police station, had a report filed, and went on our merry way. Here are some pictures:



We are supposed to take the Honda to the shop to get fixed sometime this week. Since my dad and the babies will be here soon, I am trying to convince Scott that we NEED to rent a Hummer while the Honda is getting worked on. We'll see =)

Navy Ball

On Friday, October 8th, Scott and I got to go to our first Navy Ball! It was really a lot of fun, and I'm glad that we took advantage of the opportunity. The ball was held at the Diplomat Hotel in Manama. There was a little ceremony, and then dinner and dancing! One thing I did learn is that walking in sand in high heels, sucks! I basically had to walk on my tip toes in the sand, because my heel would just sink. Scott had a suit made for the ball, and he absolutely loved it! He said it was so comfortable and I think he looked so good. Here's a picture of Scott and I all dolled up.

Back to School

Today is my first day back to school after a week off. Both of my classes this session are IT classes. Meaning, I am in the home stretch! One more session to go after this one. I've actually been considering continuing school after I receive my AA, and going for a Bachelor's degree. I know, crazy talk. We will see what happens. I am a few months away from being done with my AA so I have some time to think about it.

The Navy Ball is coming up this Friday and I'm pretty excited. Scott is having a suit made and I think he is going to look fantastic! My dress still hasn't come (AMAZING!), so Scott said if it isn't here by Wednesday, we could go out and buy a new one! I just hope that if that does happen, I am able to find something I like =)

Scott is still loving his job. They are thinking of sending him to Tampa to do some training or go to some seminars or something next year. We both think it would be great for him to go and learn as much as possible.

My dad and dogs will be here in less than 5 weeks. Scott and I can't believe how long it has been since we saw Ozzie and Presley, and are so excited to have them back in our daily lives. We definitely think and talk about them every single day, but it will be so nice (I say this now, before they actually get here and start terrorizing the house) to have them running around and playing and get to take care of them. AND, it will be so awesome to have a visitor =) This is my dad's first time out of the country (Fact: if you grow up in Southern California, Mexico doesn't count as another country) and we want to make sure he has a great time. I know he is going to be blown away by the experience and I can't wait to see his face when he sees the craziness that is Bahrain. We're especially looking forward to his comments on the driving and the unrestrained little kids in every single car.

I'm getting excited about the holidays. Apparently, so is everyone else around here. All the cans of pumpkin at the NEX are GONE! I will be checking every time I go though and hopefully I can snag a few before Thanksgiving. Oh, and I already know what I want for Christmas. I spotted a super cute Coach purse at the NEX, and it has my name written all over it.
